A lot of the time, these questions are asked out of frustration! But, we are glad you ask!
Common Ground is open for donations during the day on Mondays and Wednesdays 10-1, and Saturdays 10-12. We are open in the evening on Tuesdays and Thursdays 6-8 pm. Since we are volunteer centric, our hours are limited because most of the 100-120 volunteers we need weekly are people who work or go to school. The hours we are open fit most people’s schedules.
Having an outside bin is out of the question because people use those to off-load trash and junk. We need to be able to have donors hand us their donations. This cuts down on wasted time and resources that we can’t afford to have! While we make every effort to maintain a reliable, consistent schedule, we do close for major holidays, inclement weather, or if there’s unexpected maintenance or a street closure.
To avoid frustration, we always recommend that you:
1. Check our website or social media which states our correct hours (our profile pic is our hours) and will also say if we are closed for a holiday or other reason, or
2. Call us to verify if you’re unsure. Google is not always accurate or reliable!
Please know we are grateful for your support and donations! Without them, we cannot exist. We hope that understanding how we operate will make it a little easier to drop off your items that truly do make a difference in people’s lives!
